Blended Families

Every Family Has Its Own Shape

Step-parents, adopted children, half-siblings, co-parents. Real families do not always follow a straight line. FamilyStoryline was built for the way families actually look.

Most family tree apps assume every family starts with one mum and one dad. But real families are more complex than that.

Some children have step-parents. Some have two mums or two dads. Some were adopted. Some have half-siblings they see every other weekend. Some have a co-parent who is part of their story but not part of a couple.

FamilyStoryline is built for all of them.

What We Support

Every relationship that matters to your family has a place in your tree.

Step-parents & step-children

A step-parent can appear in your tree as part of your family, not squeezed into a role that does not fit.

Adopted children

Adopted children belong in the family tree just like anyone else. Because they are family, full stop.

Half-siblings

Half-siblings share part of a family tree. FamilyStoryline keeps those connections clear and honest.

Co-parents

A co-parent can be part of a child's story without being shown as a current partner. The relationship is about the child, not the couple.

Blended families

When two families come together, everyone should be able to see where they fit. No one gets left out.

Why It Matters

Family trees are supposed to show where you come from and who you belong to. But when an app cannot handle your family shape, it sends a message: your family is not normal.

That is not true. And no one should feel like a footnote in their own family story.

Every person who helped raise you, love you, or shape your life deserves a place in your family tree.

A child with two homes should see both families. A step-parent who has been there since day one should not be invisible. An adopted child should never feel like an asterisk.

How It Works

FamilyStoryline does not force your family into a template. You build your tree the way your family actually works.

  • Add any relationship. Parents, step-parents, adopted parents, co-parents, half-siblings and more.
  • Each person gets their own profile. Photos, stories and memories stay with the person they belong to.
  • Co-parents stay connected to the child. They can be part of the child's family story without being linked as a couple.
  • Invite family to join. Living relatives can claim their profile and add their own stories.

You do not need to figure out your whole family tree at once. Start with the people you know and let it grow from there.
