You are in control.

FamilyStoryline is a tool your family uses to build a family tree and keep memories. You decide what goes in. You decide what comes out. You can delete everything yourself, at any time, inside the app.

1. How FamilyStoryline works

FamilyStoryline is a tool. You sign in, you build your family tree, you add photos and stories, you invite relatives. Everything in your account is put there by you or your family.

FamilyStoryline cannot see, edit, modify or make decisions about your family tree or content. We do not access your information. We provide the app — you and your family use it.

2. What the app stores for you

The app stores only what you and your family put into it:

Your sign-in
Your name and the email or phone number you use to sign in.
Your family tree
The names, relationships and dates you add.
Your content
The photos, stories and memories you upload.
Your invitations
The contact details you provide when you invite a relative. Used only to deliver the invitation.

Nothing is collected in the background. The app does not access your phone's contacts, camera roll, location or any other data on your device.

3. What FamilyStoryline does not do

  • We do not sell, rent or share your data with advertisers.
  • We do not serve ads.
  • We do not build profiles about you.
  • We do not track your location.
  • We do not access or read your family tree, stories or photos.
  • We do not make decisions about your data — you do.

4. You are in control

Everything you add, you can change or delete yourself, inside the app:

  • Edit your profile, your family tree and your content at any time.
  • Delete individual photos, stories or memories at any time.
  • Delete your entire account at any time — your data is removed from the service.

You do not need to email us or submit a request. The controls are in the app.

5. Security

Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. FamilyStoryline uses passwordless sign-in with one-time verification and supported device biometrics — there are no passwords to steal or leak.

Your family tree and content are private to you and the family members you are connected to in the app. They are not visible to the public, to other families, or on this website.

6. Google Drive backup

You can turn on Google Drive backup in Settings to keep a personal backup of your family tree and content. That backup is stored in your own Google Drive account, under your control. FamilyStoryline does not have access to your Google Drive.

If you delete your FamilyStoryline account, your Google Drive backup remains in your Google account for you to manage.

7. This website

This website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors find the site. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect anonymised data such as pages visited and referral source. The app does not use cookies or website tracking.

8. Infrastructure

The app runs on secure cloud infrastructure. The following service providers help operate the app:

  • Cloud infrastructure — stores and serves your data securely
  • App stores — Google Play and Apple App Store distribute the app
  • Messaging services — deliver invitations you send via email, SMS or WhatsApp

These providers handle only what is needed to deliver their service. FamilyStoryline does not share your family tree or personal content with any third party for any other purpose.

9. Your rights

You can access, correct, export and delete your data directly in the app, without needing to contact us.

If you need help or want to exercise a data right you cannot handle in the app, contact support@familystoryline.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Your rights under the laws of your country apply. This includes rights under the GDPR (EU/EEA), CCPA (California), Kenya Data Protection Act 2019, and equivalent laws elsewhere. We do not sell personal information under any of these laws.

If you are in Kenya and believe your data protection rights have not been respected, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (odpc.go.ke).

10. Children

You must be at least 13 to create your own account. A parent or guardian manages a younger child's profile.

If we learn that a child under 13 has created an account without parental consent, we will delete it. Contact support@familystoryline.com if you believe this has happened.

11. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will notify users through the app or by email. The current version is always available on this page with its effective date.
